Hever Festival Theatre 2019 is brimming with events . . .

Festival Theatre Director, Ailsa Molyneux said of this year’s Festival:

“The 2019 Festival is brimming with events. This year’s extended selection will appeal to both our existing patrons and those who will be new to the truly magical experience of visiting our theatre in the award winning Hever Castle Gardens.”

Hever Festival Theatre, the open air theatre set in the stunning grounds of Hever Castle, is back for 2019…and it’s bigger, better and longer than ever (4 May to 30 August) with highlights that include Britain’s Got Talent winner Lee Ridley aka Lost Voice Guy, national treasure, broadcaster and journalist Jeremy Vine, and icons of jazz Mica Paris, Courtney Pine (with special guest Omar) and Miloš Karadaglić performing as part of the Rye International Jazz and Blues Festival.

SWINGING AT THE COTTON CLUB

FEATURING THE LINDY HOP DANCE COMPANY

& THE HARRY STRUTTERS HOT RHYTHM ORCHESTRA

SATURDAY 26TH AUGUST 8PM

This sensational live music show takes audiences on a journey back in time, stepping back into 1920s and ‘30s New York City and through the doors of Harlem’s hottest night club – The Cotton Club! Performances by Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Cab Calloway, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, and Fats Waller would have had the club swinging – whilst dancers such as Bojangles Robinson and the Nicholas Brothers lit-up the stage with their breath-taking routines.

In this show, the exhilarating dance of the famous Cotton Club is recreated by the fabulous Lindy Hop Dance Company, the UK’s finest, authentic Jazz Dance Company and the show’s special guest tap-dancer. Alongside them The Harry Strutters Hot Rhythm Orchestra, featuring American vocalist Marlene Hill and compere/vocalist Megs Etherington, are specialists in recreating the jazz and hot dance music of the 1920s and ‘30s with characteristic drive and visual appeal.
